For many, aging is framed as a quiet series of compromises, less mobility, a slower pace, and changes like pelvic floor challenges that are often dismissed as “just part of getting older.”

But for Sally*, an active and vibrant woman in her late 70s, the goal wasn’t acceptance. Her focus wasn’t on decline, but on maintaining strength, independence, and the ability to fully participate in the life she enjoys.

Sally came to Victara with a collection of hurdles, chronic sleep disruption and persistent physical pain that had become barriers to the life she wanted to lead, but through targeted technology and a proactive mindset, she discovered that aging doesn’t have to mean slowing down.

The Invisible Struggle: Nocturia and “The Urge”

For more than six years, Sally noticed a gradual impact on her quality of life due to nocturia, waking up as many as three times a night to use the bathroom.

“I tried adjusting how much water I drank in the evenings,” she recalls, but the issue continued.

She also experienced occasional stress incontinence, particularly during a cold or when coughing. Like many women, Sally initially felt she just had to ‘deal with it.’ By comparing her experience to peers with more severe issues, she assumed her daily struggles were simply an inevitable byproduct of motherhood and aging. However, when she was introduced to the EMSELLA at Victara, her perspective shifted from acceptance to curiosity. Intrigued by the possibility of a non-invasive solution, she realized she didn’t have to settle for ‘just getting by.’

The EMSELLA Experience: Strengthening from the Inside Out

To address her pelvic health symptoms, Sally began the EMSELLA treatment series; six each 28.5 minutes, scheduled twice a week. This non-invasive technology uses High-Intensity Focused Electromagnetic (HIFEM) energy to stimulate and strengthen the pelvic floor muscles.

“It was a great experience,” she says. “No pain or discomfort, just a gentle vibration.”

The changes weren’t immediate, but within a few weeks, Sally began sleeping through the night, often from 10:30 PM to the morning.

“Not getting up in the middle of the night is huge,” she notes. Her daughters have even joked about being envious of her sleep schedule.

EMSCULPT Neo: Building the Foundation of Movement

Beyond her pelvic symptoms, Sally had also been experiencing tightness and irritation in her left knee which affected her comfort when walking.

She began using the functional setting on EMSCULPT neo, targeting her quadriceps and calf. This treatment triggers deep, repetitive muscle contractions to help strengthen targeted muscles, support joint stability, and improve overall movement patterns. Over the course of her care, Sally completed four EMSCULPT Neo sessions.

Over time, she began to notice a meaningful difference. “I’m walking much better on my left leg now,” she says.

Sally also incorporated EMSCULPT Neo into her approach to managing persistent plantar fasciitis. Treatments focused on her heel and right calf aimed to support muscle activation and increase blood flow to the area. Alongside regular stretching, she noticed her calf loosening, contributing to improved mobility.

While she continues to experience some discomfort related to a heel spur and arthritis, she has seen clear improvements in her stride and overall day-to-day comfort.

Looking Ahead: Maintaining Momentum

When asked what she would say to others, Sally doesn’t hesitate: “I would highly recommend it. Even if your symptoms don’t feel severe, you may not realize how much it can improve your quality of life.”

For her, these improvements mark a beginning, not an end. She now focuses on maintaining what she’s gained, with occasional EMSELLA sessions to support bladder control and continued EMSCULPT Neo treatments alongside physiotherapy for her feet.

She and her husband are also considering additional ways to support their overall well-being, including EXOMIND (rTMS), which may help address occasional brain fog and support ongoing cognitive clarity.

“We’re in our late 70s, but we don’t feel like we’re done,” Sally says. “We want to keep going.”
